The Fitness First Stadium is a massive improvement from the days of the old Dean Court, and as away fans will remember the uncovered terraces. It is a modern purpose built stadium, with pretty much all the mod-cons expected in a brand new stadium, although most AFCB fans will admit you can tell the ground was done on a budget, and isn't quite as glamorous as such new grounds as The Britannia Stadium and The Madejski Stadium. The pitch was actually rotated 90 degrees and moved slightly from the original position. The clubs finances has meant the ground has only three sides, and at present (Mar 2002) there are no immediate plans to build a forth. The current capacity is 9,600. This would increase to 12,000 with the addition of the fourth side, and the club have stated the ultimate aim would be to fill in the corners and finish with a final capacity of 14,000. All seats in the ground have a good view as there are no pillars or obstructions any where in the ground. Away fans are housed in the East stand, and the away capacity varies with the amount of away fans expected. This ranges from 500 to 2,000 approx. The majority of the vocal home support is housed within the North stand behind the goal. The new ground has brought with it new caterers, and a vast improvement on the grub side. The new caterers serve a much bigger range and the quality is a lot better. They also serve beer (£2-25 pint) in the ground as well. Other new facilities include a new club shop, 'The Score Store' (a huge improvement on the old portacabin) and a pub built into the outside of the ground that also opens on non matchdays, 'The Chery Tree'.
